The West Coast’s cool mix of fashion, lifestyle and art has a new patron in LAURA MAGED, owner of the new WEST boutique. She selects fashion and accessories infused with the beachy, breezy, sunkissed vibe she soaked in while living in L.A. She calls it “the high/low mix.”
Maged later moved to NYC to start a family, and then discovered Westport. “I adored the beautiful coastline, and downtown felt a lot like Brentwood.” She’s been a Westporter for over a decade.
In planning WEST, she thought about the way she shops. “I am always looking for the perfect going-out look or the best jeans, something to take away on vacation or a gift for a special girlfriend,” she says. That’s why in WEST “fashion is presented within a whole lifestyle context…a changing array of West Coast artists, music, cappuccino and sometimes a DJ.” It’s a good mix. 117 Post Road E., Westport; west2westport.com
LAURA MAGED ON PERFECT STYLE NOW
HOT FALL LOOKS
Expect a lot of navy with a touch of rust, though black and white and gray are on every order for WEST.
Silk and embellished bombers—even a stylized letterman jacket—and touches of velvet, romantic bell sleeves and a bit of the shoulder reveal look will continue. So flattering!
Statement chokers, too, and I am seeing a tiny bit of tinsel.
Boho bags will continue strong. Joey Wolffer is an amazing line we are happily carrying, and I am confident our season of leather, suede, denim, cashmere and silk fabrications will be wardrobe staples.
Jeans—maybe distressed, maybe not—with a unique top and an interesting blazer thrown over. A great bag is always key.
A bit more tailored look would include leather pants, a beautiful blouse and a long cashmere duster.
When heading out, try pairing a statement dress with a unique choker and a sculpted cuff bracelet.
